Papirøen
As part of the transformation of the Paper Island, from an old industrial dock hosting some of the city’s most beloved temporary activities, to a new mixed-use destination, BRIQ has developed a strategy for urban life and retail, and is now handling the implementation and curation of the ground floor offerings, securing atmosphere, activation and diversity that aims to make everyone feel welcome on this significant part of the Copenhagen waterfront.
The strategy contextualizes the Paper Island to its neighboring areas and focuses on trends within tourism and consumer behavior in Copenhagen. The strategy seeks to create synergy between the concepts and help establish a place that both attracts local Copenhagners as well as tourists. This has led to a focus on diverse food concepts, cultural formats and smaller shops that cater to the everyday.
To make the strategy as realisable as possible, BRIQ has designed a process, using tentative space plans, to work with potential operators in visualizing and making their concepts come to life as a unique component within the overall vision.
