BRIQ has developed a retail and urban life strategy for the new retail street in Mjølnerparken a long Mimersparken. As the making of the trading street is part of a bigger transformation of the area, it has been important to keep and bring forward some of the already inherent qualities of the place. Therefore, the strategy takes a site-specific approach and promotes the use of local heroes and Nørrebro concepts, social responsibility, and a welcoming urban environment with open, democratic spaces and spaces for outdoor serving.
To ensure the realization of the urban life strategy, and the vision for the area, BRIQ has overseen the quality and coherence between the development plan, the ground floor spaces and the landscape design. To succeed in creating a new urban neighborhood, it is important to view the area holistically and create the best preconditions for synergies between indoors and outdoors, between people living in the area and visitors, between commercial and democratic urban spaces – to name a few. The purpose of BRIQ’s transversal role has been to help align and make the different urban initiatives support one another to the fullest.
